In the days ahead, the City of Helsingborg on trial places out 13pc Bigbelly, solar-powered garbage compactors and smart collection connected to the internet with real-time analysis. The city will evaluate the system for a year! Visit our websiteewf.se/bigbelly for more information about the system!
Bigbelly is a waste bin solution with significantly higher capacity than ordinary waste bins. One Bigbelly compresses material that is thrown into it and through an internet connection the filling rate can be followed. This means that the vessels are only emptied when there is a need, thereby helping to reduce transport in the city. The system is also closed, preventing pests and birds from entering the vessels.
The experiment with Bigbellys is part of the city's work with the Internet of Things (IoT) and the city rents the vessels to be able to test and evaluate the benefits of the technology for a period of time.
"With the help of technology, we can quickly fix any errors that occur and better plan our work. In the long run, this initiative could mean that more things in our public environment become connected to the internet," says Andréas Hall, development engineer at the Urban Development Administration.
An important partner is the city's operations contractor in the area West, Peab Operations and Maintenance, which handles the purely practical handling of the vessels.
