Smart Solutions for Public Spaces
Make it easy to sort waste properly in parks, town squares, and at transit centers. We’ll help you choose the right bins, waste categories, and locations—with the option of digital tracking.
A solution that suits the location
Combine “ Bigbelly ” units to create a waste sorting station for your location. Choose the waste openings, labeling, and capacity based on your visitors and how you want the bins to be emptied.
Connected models provide an overview of fill levels. Compaction can be selected for waste fractions where it is appropriate.
Do you already have Bigbelly?
We can help you assess how your existing solution can be expanded to include source separation.
Example of a " Bigbelly" station. Fractions and model selection are tailored to the site and applicable requirements.
Well-designed openings and consistent labeling make sorting easier to understand.
Fractions, capacity, and location are selected based on the type of waste and how the site is used.
Filling data from connected devices supports emptying and continued development.
The right solution in the right place
Adjust the layout based on picnic areas, the season, and varying visitor traffic. Location and capacity make a difference in everyday life.
Make it easy to sort waste in retail areas, dining areas, and walkways. Plan for both the layout of the space and the waste collection process.
Clearly marked drop-off points help visitors who are in a hurry. Place the stations so that they are easy to reach and empty.
Place recycling bins where customers, tenants, and visitors need them. Tailor the solution to waste streams and operational responsibilities.
Rules Effective January 1, 2026
Municipalities are to collect packaging waste at certain public squares, in parks, and at other popular locations. The types of materials to be collected depend on the conditions at each location.
Three criteria apply to public squares and parks: the area exceeds 2,000 m², the municipality is responsible for waste management, and significant amounts of packaging waste are generated. For other popular locations, special conditions apply to plastic packaging.
Start with the applicable requirements and the waste that is generated. Then adapt the station’s location, waste intake, and capacity to the number of visitors and operational needs.

Questions and Answers
These rules apply to the municipality’s collection at locations that meet specific criteria. See the fact box above and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s guidelines for the definition of these locations.
Start with the materials that must be collected in accordance with applicable regulations. Then assess the other waste at the site and select clear labeling, collection points, and capacity for each waste stream.
We'll review your existing models and needs to determine the best approach. Please contact us with information about the stations and the types of waste you want to collect.
Start by identifying where waste is generated—for example, in seating areas, food service areas, and waiting areas. At the same time, ensure accessibility and sufficient space for use, emptying, and maintenance.
Monitor incorrect sorting, littering, and emptying operations. On connected models, fill-level data can provide additional support for adjusting procedures and capacity.
