EWF and ONgineer Launch Collaboration in Micromobility

The agreement expands the micro-mobility offering with solutions for direct charging of electric bicycles and electric scooters. The first product is the LiON Box, which allows users to charge their vehicles directly at the parking spot.

EWF has signed a partnership agreement with the German company ONgineer regarding the marketing and sale of the company’s products for direct charging of electric bicycles and electric scooters in Sweden and the rest of the Nordic region.

Through this agreement, EWF is expanding its existing offering for charging and storing electric bicycle batteries with solutions that allow vehicles to be charged directly at the parking spot.

For EWF, the agreement means a broader range of micromobility offerings and the opportunity to serve more segments of the market with various types of charging infrastructure.

– “What makes ONgineer an interesting addition is that their solutions complement what we already offer. With ECO Charge , we help businesses organize where and how removable e-bike batteries are charged and stored as part of a systematic fire safety program. ONgineer adds direct charging of the vehicle itself. Together, this allows us to address more applications within micromobility,” says Lena Möller, CEO of EWF.

Charging Based on the Location's Needs

Electric bicycles, electric scooters, and other small electric vehicles are used for commuting to work, short everyday trips, and getting from public transportation to the final destination.

This means that the charging infrastructure needs to function in many different contexts. For a property owner, housing cooperative, or workplace with a bike-sharing program, the issue may, for example, involve establishing clear procedures for charging and storing removable batteries, or a desire to make battery management traceable. At a destination or public transit hub, charging can instead be offered as a service where the user charges the vehicle directly during their stay.

– “As micromobility evolves, the infrastructure surrounding it must evolve as well. Our job is to accommodate the various ways people use, charge, and manage electric bicycles and other small electric vehicles,” says Karl Corneliusson, business area manager for micromobility at EWF.

EWF has long offered ECO Charge for charging and storing removable electric bike batteries. The solution can be used as part of a business’s systematic fire safety program and, depending on the configuration, can be supplemented with access control and traceability features.

LiON Box is the first in the partnership

The first product that EWF is introducing from ONgineer is the LiON Box, designed for direct charging of electric bicycles and electric scooters. The user parks the vehicle at the charging station and connects it using a compatible charging connector.

The agreement covers all of ONgineers' products, enabling EWF to gradually expand its micromobility offerings.
