As part of the redevelopment of the town square, the City of Trollhättan is installing additional Bigbelly to improve waste management and meet the need for smarter, higher-capacity solutions in public spaces.

Bigbelly Waste Management at Drottningtorget

Drottningtorget is a natural gathering place in Trollhättan and an important part of the city’s public spaces. The square has a strong local identity and is being developed to meet both current and future needs—drawing inspiration from Trollhättan’s history and focusing on a more functional, pleasant, and sustainable urban environment.

As part of this initiative, the City of Trollhättan is installing an additional 10 Bigbelly in and around Drottningtorget. The city already has Bigbelly operation, and with this new installation, there are now a total of 25 units in place.

Bigbelly a connected waste bin with a compaction system, solar power, and sensors for remote monitoring of fill levels. The solution can help provide a better overview, smarter emptying routines, and cleaner public spaces—especially in areas with high visitor traffic and varying usage patterns.

This creates better conditions for keeping the area clean, reducing the risk of overflowing bins, and providing the operations team with clearer signals about when emptying is needed.

The total waste capacity is listed as 14,250 liters, with a status indicator showing when it needs to be emptied. This should be verified against an internal source or product/project documentation before publication.
