Uppsala has the first fossil free park?

For the second season with the system BigBelly Solar, a fossil-free electric vehicle has been purchased for collection of waste and recyclable waste in a public environment. The vehicle selection is a direct consequence of a more efficient way of working based on the information about the filling rate of the trash cans and solar power compression of the material.
"A concrete example of working smarter in the collection of litter is that through the right information, the vehicle fleet and its use can be environmentally optimised, at the same time we can redistribute staff to work on other environmental projects," says Per-Rickard Rönnberg Project Manager at Uppsala Municipality"
Uppsala has a far-reaching environmental strategy to find solutions that make it easier for everyone to live and work climate-consciously. Uppsala Climate Protocol seeks local solutions to a global problem. As part of this work, the administration has chosen to invest in the system BigBelly SOLAR and has almost 200 units in a public environment.
"Uppsala is well on its way to the fossil-free park and one step closer to the national goal of "a fossil-free vehicle fleet by 2030". When a technology shift takes place within a business and it is fully utilized, the whole becomes larger than the parts," says Per Järnebrink, CEO of EWF ECO AB, reseller for BigBelly Solar in Sweden, Finland and Norway.

The work within uppsala climate protocol has contributed to uppsala municipality being named Sweden's climate city 2013 (Earth Hour Capital 2013), by the World Wildlife Fund.
