Särö in Kungsbacka municipality

Sustainable lighting that saves money

The Särö project in Kungsbacka municipality is an excellent example of how sustainability and innovative technology can be combined to improve society. In 2012, in an effort to increase safety and accessibility in the area, Kungsbacka municipality and Särö Golf Club chose to collaborate and implement solar-powered lighting.

The installation of this system has proven to be both reliable and maintenance-friendly, with minimal deviation from its original function. The solution consists of presence-controlled bollard lights that are easily mounted with ground anchors and powered by solar energy. A total of 23 bollards have been installed to illuminate the area, especially valuable during the dark hours.

A significant advantage of this solar-powered lighting system is its economic efficiency. The life cycle calculation shows that the operating cost is only 48 SEK per bollard per month, compared to 74 SEK per bollard per month for conventional lighting that requires cables and electricity consumption. This means significant long term savings for Kungsbacka Municipality and Särö Golf Club while promoting a more sustainable and environmentally friendly lighting solution.
