The winning proposal was for the municipality to replace the public trash cans in the city of Västerås BigBelly Bins. They came up with this solution by studying the current solution and making a calculation of what it would mean economically and environmentally for the city of Västerås to make a system change.

Västerås Municipality will earn the investment in BigBelly in 3 years.

The students' solution will affect both the service sector and the transport sector as the transport of waste becomes more efficient.
The energy used today to handle garbage will be reduced to a fraction of what it is today.
