The right trash can!
Jönköping has been looking for a solution to the right trash can since the 90's. When they found the right size that could handle a pizza box, it was not closed so that the debris stayed in the basket. Two years ago, we got a call from EWF ECO who said they had a new garbage collection system. At first it sounded like a container so we were skeptical but curious enough to look at the basket," says Head of Unit Kjell Svensson. We saw that it could be the solution that we had been looking for so in 2014 Jönköping conducted a test. After an evaluation, a decision was made to purchase Duo units for the collection of the fractions glass and paper and BigBelly for junk.
Jönköping is growing and so does the number of visitors. "In the last 6 months, the number of visits has increased by 14%," says Jesper Steen, CEO of Jönköping City AB.
The city became Sweden's second cleanest city in 2014 and the goal is to become number one in 2016. Collection capacity and monitoring BigBelly can help Jönköping continue to grow without getting dirty.
