Prior to the evaluation period, Randers municipality had 120 traditional bins that resulted in 43,680 annual visits to keep the city centre clean. In 2017, Randers chose to make a system change in the operation of the city centre.
The 120 traditional bins were dismantled and 30 pcs Bigbelly High Capacity was installed in the city centre. The results of the Bigbelly already found within a few days. The number of discharges was reduced from 43,680 to 1,800 per year.
In the cityscape, birds disappeared and the streets were cleaner and required less maintenance. In the new Bigbelly the bins were also installed built-in audio modules that are activated when using the bins to increase interaction with visitors.
